Territorial Burn Ban Lifted Exclusively for St. Croix; Restrictions Remain in Effect Elsewhere

U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS — Residents on the island of St. Croix can resume burning activities following an announcement by the Virgin Islands Fire and Emergency Medical Services (VIFEMS). Effective immediately, the territorial burn ban has been suspended for St. Croix only.

However, officials stress that the suspension does not extend to the entire territory. The active burn ban remains strictly in place for the islands of St. Thomas, St. John, and Water Island.

The decision comes from VIFEMS Director Antonio O. Stevens, who noted that the agency will maintain ongoing monitoring of weather conditions and local fire risks across the territory.

Authorities have indicated that the public will be promptly notified should conditions warrant any further adjustments.

VIFEMS has expressed gratitude to residents and visitors alike for their continued cooperation and understanding of the precautionary measures implemented to safeguard local communities.

For further inquiries or updates regarding the burn ban status, community members can reach out to the main VIFEMS office locations:

St. Croix: (340)-773-8050

St. Thomas: (340)-774-7610
