WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. military says five people were killed in a strike against a vessel suspected of drug trafficking in the eastern Pacific on October 27, 2026.

U.S. Southern Command said intelligence indicated the vessel was involved in illegal drug trafficking. However, detailed public evidence confirming the allegations and the identities of those killed has not been released.

The strike is part of the Trump administration’s ongoing military campaign targeting suspected drug-smuggling vessels in the Caribbean and eastern Pacific.

The operations have drawn growing scrutiny from human rights advocates and legal experts over the use of lethal force and compliance with international law.
