ST. CROIX, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS — The Department of Planning and Natural Resources (DPNR) has announced upcoming renovations to three boating access docks on St. Croix, with work scheduled to begin November 10, 2026.

Commissioner Jean-Pierre L. Oriol said improvements will be made at Altona Lagoon, Gallows Bay, and Frederiksted to enhance safety, accessibility, and the overall boating experience for residents and visitors.

The project includes installing new dock cleats, solar-powered pathway lighting, and protective fenders.

DPNR is urging boat owners to remove vessels moored at the affected docks before construction begins. The public is also asked to remove vehicles parked on or near dock access areas to ensure contractors have safe, unobstructed access to the work sites.

Residents and members of the boating community are advised to exercise caution around the facilities while renovations are underway.

The work is expected to take two to three weeks, depending on weather conditions.

DPNR thanked the public for its patience and cooperation as the department works to improve St. Croix’s boating infrastructure.
